What Is the Vivos Guided Growth Treatment System?
Vivos Guided Growth is more commonly known simply as Vivos. It is a functional orthodontic system that is often used in children to apply gentle force that shapes the development of the upper jaw. Not only does this promote healthy dental alignment, but it also shapes the upper airway in order to promote healthy breathing and high-quality sleep.
Instead of using braces, Vivos uses custom-made appliances, including the DNA Appliance (Daytime-Nighttime Appliance), which helps to widen the upper jaw, and the mRNA Appliance (Mandibular Repositioning Nighttime Appliance), which focuses on repositioning the lower jaw. The appliances somewhat resemble an orthodontic retainer or comfortable mouthguard.
How Does Vivos Guided Growth Treatment Work?
Before your child gets started with Vivos, our team will thoroughly evaluate the details of their case. If they are a good candidate, we will design their custom appliances. Once the appliances are ready, your child should use them as instructed. They are removable, so you will need to make sure your child keeps their appliances in their mouth for the required amount of time each day. Throughout the treatment period, occasional checkups will help verify whether Vivos is working as intended and make any necessary adjustments.
Treatment timelines can vary, but many cases are completed within 12 – 24 months.
